Shiatsu and Acupuncture Clinic

shiatsu

Shiatsu is a form of massage which focuses on applying pressure along the course of the energy channels of the body in order to bring the flow of energy back into balance. Patients receiving a Shiatsu treatment remain fully clothed as this form of massage therapy is can penetrate through loose fitting clothing without the need to have direct contact with the skin. This is especially beneficial for clients who are not comfortable being undressed while having treatments. In addition in the cooler months, the body stays warm as it is not exposed to the cooler air like in other forms of massage.

In Shiatsu therapy, tension in the walls of the energy channels can be removed with correct pressure, which assists in revitalising the peristaltic rhythm, inherent in each of the energy channels of the body.

When tension in the channels builds up, this free-flowing movement of energy becomes impaired, causing stagnation in the flow, which is a precursor to dis-ease.

"In Oriental philosophy Yin and Yang are concepts which are used to define the nature of life. They provide the basis for all diagnosis and treatments."

Shiatsu can be a very effective method of treating any kind of bodily ailment where stagnation is the root cause of a persons problem. This can be stagnation in the energy channels or stagnation in the circulation of blood in the minor capillaries (micro-circulation).

Most people feel revitalised after a Shiatsu session but if your energy levels are low you will possibly feel tired as your body's energy has been directed to the internal organs, for optimum healing to occur. With further sessions you will start to feel your energy come "alive", an indication your energy system has been positively charged and the energy reserves are being supplemented again. Energy is like money. You need it to make more of it. So when you are careful in how you spend your energy you will not deplete this most valuable resource.

Shiatsu sessions integrated with acupuncture are another alternative that is available in the Shiatsu and Acupuncture Clinic. This is especially suitable for more chronic and stubborn conditions, which havent responded to other treatment modalities.
In this combined approach, the effect of removing tension from the walls of the energy channels and releasing tension from the muscle fibres and attachments to tendons, with Shiatsu,  and the manipultation of energy within the energy channels, with acupuncture, enables the body's intrinsic healing potential to be maximised, hence speeding up recovery time considerably.
